Ad Experience Checker
Ad Experience Checker
How heavy are a site's ads for real users: number of ads, share of the page, CPU time and network weight they cost. Straight from Chrome CrUX, no API key.
Reported only for sites that serve ads. Ad-free or low-traffic sites will show « no data ».
How the Ad Experience Checker works
This tool reports, from real Chrome users (CrUX), how heavy a website's advertising actually is: not what the site claims, but what visitors truly load and see.
What it measures
- Ads on screen: the typical number of ads a user sees at once.
- Ad density: the share of the page taken up by advertising.
- Ad CPU: the processing time ads cost, which drains battery and hurts responsiveness (INP).
- Ad weight: the network data ads download, which slows the page and eats mobile data plans.
What you can do with it
Compare how ad-heavy competing sites are, check whether a publisher's ads are hurting its own performance, or qualify a site before buying or partnering. A clean site with few, light ads generally offers a better user experience and better Core Web Vitals.
Frequently asked questions
Where does the ad data come from?
It comes from the experimental ad metrics in the Chrome UX Report, aggregated from real Chrome users. It is only reported for origins that actually serve ads.
My site shows no ad data, is that bad?
No, the opposite. If a site serves little or no advertising, CrUX simply has nothing to report here, which the tool shows as a clean result.
Do ads really affect SEO?
Indirectly, yes. Heavy ads increase CPU time and network weight, which worsen INP and LCP, and Core Web Vitals are a Google ranking signal. Intrusive ad layouts can also hurt usability.
Is this the same as an ad blocker test?
No. It does not block anything; it reports how much advertising real users experienced on the site over the last 28 days.
Data: real Chrome users via the public Chrome UX Report (CrUX), trailing 28 days. Free and open, no API key.
